Privacy policy: Home mail backup

Last updated: 3 November 2026.

What the app is

Home mail backup is a private tool of Sankaranarayanan Viswanathan. It is not offered to the public. Only its owner signs in to it, with the owner's own Gmail and Google Workspace accounts.

What data it reads

With the owner's permission, given through Google sign-in (OAuth), the app reads the mail in the owner's accounts and the email address of each signed-in account. It reads mail only to copy it. It does not send, change or delete mail.

Where the data goes

The app copies the mail to storage that the owner runs at home. The sign-in tokens are kept on the owner's own server. No mail, token or other data is given, sold or shown to anyone else, and the data is not used for advertising or analysis.

Use of Google user data

The app's use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

How to stop access

Remove "Home mail backup" at myaccount.google.com/permissions. The app then can no longer read the account.
